Welcome to Areum Dance
At Areum, we believe dancing is more than movement, it is a practice of presence and a celebration of being.
Founded by two passionate and experienced professionals, Areum is a space where artistry meets approachability, and technique serves expression. Whether you are stepping onto the floor for the first time or refining your craft after years of experience, you will find guidance rooted in respect, joy, and authenticity.
We offer classes in Ballroom and Latin for all ages and levels, from beginners to competitors, children to adults, social dancers to wedding couples. With every lesson, we invite our students to discover not just how to dance, but how to feel the dance, moving beyond memorisation to genuine embodiment and connection.
Come dance with us. Let’s move beautifully.

Our Story

David and Christina each began their dance journeys on opposite sides of the world, eventually the music bought them together.
David took his first steps at the tender age of six in Perth, drawn to the exotic world of Ballroom dancing. The music, the movement, the sequins. He began competing by eight and has not looked back since. Now based in Sydney, he is a professional competitor, adjudicator, and coach known for his generous spirit, and the occassional cheeky one-liner in class.
Christina began dancing at the age of eight in Korea, introduced to the world of Ballroom through her mother. She quickly rose through the ranks, representing South Korea at international events with elegance and determination. With a fierce technique and a nurturing presence, Christina brings both strength and softness to her students.
They have been dancing together for two years, a partnership formed with ease through shared values of artistic expression, spiritual exploration, and a genuine care for those they teach. Areum Dance, is an extension of this philosophy, a world of beauty, belonging, and movement from the inside out.
David and Christina chalked up Vice Champions in the Australian Professional Ballroom division in their first year dancing together, and proudly represented Australia at the WDC Professional Ballroom Championships in Tokyo 2025. They will travel to Korea in August 2026 to once again dance for Australia at the WDO Professional Ballroom Championships.
Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned dancer, they are here to help you discover the joy of dance, and maybe even a few new things about yourself along the way.
